(AP) ? Stanley Marsh 3, an eccentric millionaire artist best known for his "Cadillac Ranch" art display along an interstate in the Texas Panhandle, has settled lawsuits from 10 teenagers who allege he paid them for sex acts, attorneys announced Saturday.

In a prepared statement, plaintiffs' attorney Anthony Buzbee and Marsh's attorney Kelly Utsinger said the teenagers and Marsh have resolved their differences and that no side will have further comments. The statement was obtained by the Amarillo Globe-News (http://bit.ly/XWRVcT ).

Marsh 3 suffered a massive stroke in 2011 and his wife, Gwendolyn Marsh, was later appointed as his guardian. Marsh 3, his wife, his son, Stanley Marsh IV and associate David Weir settled the 10 civil suits.

Marsh also faces six counts of sexual assault and five counts of sexual performance of a child. The charges accuse the 75-year-old millionaire and artist of molesting a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy in 2010. Marsh surrendered to authorities in November and is free on $300,000 bond. If convicted, Marsh 3 faces up to 20 years in prison per count and fines of up to $10,000. His lawyers have denied the allegations.

The civil suits alleged Marsh 3 gave the teen boys cash, alcohol, drugs and in one case, two BMWs, to perform sex acts with him during secret encounters at his office. In one of the civil cases, a teen plaintiff claimed he had more than 100 sexual encounters with Marsh 3 in his office and Toad Hall home in Amarillo.

Special prosecutor Matt Powell did not immediately reply to a request for comment on whether the settlement affects the criminal case.

When Marsh 3 was arrested last year, his lawyers issued a statement saying the charges were "mere allegations by the group of accusers who have filed a barrage of civil lawsuits against Marsh seeking millions of dollars." The statement said that the accusers had waited to come forward until after Marsh 3 suffered a massive stroke and was legally incapacitated.

Amarillo police have said they found evidence during their search of Marsh 3's offices that corroborated "the accounts of sexual exploitation of minors." Police seized 70 envelopes of blue pills, signed confidentiality agreements, two Apple computers, couch cushion covers and a photo of a nude male, a search warrant inventory report said. Investigators also found 11 copies of blank or unsigned "release and waiver" documents in a drawer in Marsh 3's private office, according to the police investigation inventory.

A witness had told police that Marsh 3's office had a large bed and a bottle of Viagra, which he would give to the teenager.

In 1998, Marsh 3 pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of unlawful restraint and criminal trespassing as part of an agreement that dismissed five felony charges that included kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapons and indecency with a child. He served 10 days in jail and paid $4,000 in fines.

Marsh is probably best known for planting 10 brightly painted Cadillacs nose down along Interstate 40 in the Panhandle in the 1970s. The cars, ranging from a 1948 club coupe to a 1963 sedan and gathered from junkyards, private collectors and used car lots, have since become a pop art landmark.

Black Keys Drummer Changes His Twitter Name to 'Justin Bieber'

Black Keys Drummer Changes His Twitter Name to 'Justin Bieber'
    Posted by Jeremy Thomas?on 02.17.2013

And he pissed of a bunch of Beliebers in the process...

The Black Keys' drummer is continuing his teasing of Justin Bieber and Bieber's fans. As previously reported, Patrick Carney invited the wrath of Bieber fans when he said at the Grammy Awards that Bieber didn't really deserve any nominations, saying, "Grammys are for like music, not for money ... and he's making a lot of money. He should be happy." After Biber tweeted that Carney "uld be slapped slapped around haha," a ton of Bieber's followers took to slamming Carney, which the drummer took in stride.

Now, Carney has added fuel to the fire by changing his Twitter name to "Justin Bieber" and making a pic of Bieber his profile picture. The Profile description now reads, "official twitter for the actual verified Justin Bieber DOS virtual buddy."

As you can imagine, that hasn't gone over well with Beliebers who have started attacking Carney with tweets like:

I used to like you, but why are you being such a d**k?

do you even know how stupid and immature u look doing this. arent u like fifty?

do you know how f**king dumb your acting and how stupid you look lmao

Can we please have Patrick back?

Carney is responding to them with the expected amount of snark, with replies like:

    As justin i am powerful.

Haha lol i can't swag this

U never liked justin. don't be cruel.

Microsoft confirms Office 2013 licenses can't be transferred to other computers

It's no secret that copies of Office 2013 bind themselves to a single computer, but Microsoft has now confirmed to Computerworld that the software's license can't be reassigned to another PC, as is possible with Office 2010. When asked whether a license could be transferred to another machine if the original rig was destroyed, lost or stolen, Microsoft replied with a frosty, "No comment." However, Redmond did mention that the productivity suite could be reinstalled on the same PC after a crash. Just how Ballmer and Co. will enforce the policy remains a bit murky, but it's pretty clear they hope folks who have a penchant for switching up computing environments will be enticed by an Office 365 subscription.

How To Finally Banish Your Worst Allergies | Your Health And ...

    February 15th, 2013 by ajadm

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

You may realize that allergies are common. You may know someone else that has allergies or be a sufferer yourself. Either way, you most likely have seen the irritating symptoms people have to deal with. Thankfully, the article you are about to read will give you advice for treating allergies.

Getting help from a physician is a good idea if you have been unable to reduce your allergy symptoms on your own. A professional can determine which prescription-only medication is best-suited to your specific problems, which will set you on the path to success. A physician could also give you steps on how to manage your allergies.

Invest in a humidifier. Because this device can dramatically reduce the amount of airborne allergens in your home, it?s often an excellent investment. As the humidifier releases moisture, allergens may become ensnared in the droplets and removed from the air. You won?t be exposed to the normal allergens found in the air.

TIP! Sleep on synthetic pillows rather than ones stuffed with natural stuffings, such as feathers. Synthetic materials do not attract dust mites the way natural materials do.

If you are on medication for your allergies, be sure to take it as directed. A decrease in allergy suffering may not be seen until after numerous days of consistent usage of some medicines. Don?t think that popping a tablet in your mouth as soon as you begin sneezing is going to help, because, depending on the medication you?re taking, that may not happen. To get the best results, consult with your doctor on the right dosage.

Do not forget to pack allergy medication when you travel. You may not know what types of pollen and plants you are going to experience that may set your allergies off. If you?ve had severe allergic reactions, you might want to carry an Epi-pen, too. This can deliver a dose of epinephrine that can save your life during a severe allergy attack.

The best pet for a person with allergies is one that has short fur or no fur at all. The majority of animals can trigger allergic reactions, but longer-haired animals can make the condition even worse. In order to ameliorate the effects of animals, never sleep in the same bed with your pets.

Always make sure your attic fan is off unless you absolutely need it, because this fan can blow a lot of allergens around the home. The premise of an attic fan is that it draws air from the outside and pushes it into your home for circulation. Obviously, every allergen around can enter your home easily.

TIP! Book a consultation with an allergist. Instead of suffering through another miserable allergy season, realize that help is readily available to you! An allergist can determine what your allergies are caused by and offer the best treatment.

Whenever possible, opt for any type of flooring other than carpet in your home. Carpet fibers harbor allergens such as pollen, dander, dust mites and dust. No matter how much you clean, you will never get them all, and they will continue to cause irritation for people with allergies. Choose a flooring that is easy to sweep and mop.

There are lots of natural remedies people can take to help them cope with their allergies. Using these remedies it is possible to fight many allergy symptoms. Holistic products can offer natural relief from symptoms like itchiness, sneezing and swelling.

If you have allergies, avoid triggers as much as possible. If dust is causing you problems then you should make it a priority to clean often. To minimize symptoms caused by pets, extra-careful grooming may be necessary, or in extreme cases, it might be best to find them new homes. Pet dander can be kept to a minimum with regular dusting and vacuuming.

Pets are notorious for carrying dander and other allergens. It?s best if you keep them inside as much as possible if there?s a lot of pollen in the air. Pollen can be transported into your home via your animal?s fur, and this could trigger your symptoms.

TIP! Sometimes pet owners wonder if their pets contribute to their allergies. To find out for sure, visit an allergy specialist who can test you for pet dander allergy.

Choose deodorants and antiperspirants carefully. Many of these products are made from ingredients that are notorious for irritating skin or triggering an allergic reaction. Directly applying one to your skin is very risky. These ingredients could be harsh on your skin as well as on you.

If you live with allergies, it is important to vacuum often. Vacuuming reduces the presence of allergens in the air. Make sure you check on your vacuum. An old or ill-working vacuum may release some allergens back in the environment. The best vacuum cleaners are fitted with HEPA filters. These filers trap 99% of tiny particles and allergens, and prevent them from circulating in the air in your home.

Make sure that you keep handy some diphenhydramine pills around so that you can be ready if your have an allergic reaction that is serious. Although it is not effective with all allergic reactions, diphenhydramine can offers quick relief for battling histamines.

TIP! You might choose a random location destination if you?re itching to get away. This can be tricky if anyone in the family has to deal with allergies.

If you love smelling laundry that has dried in the sun, try using laundry detergent with a light fragrance or some fabric softener. Hanging your clothes to dry outdoors may add a sun-kissed scent. But, it can also boost your chances of encountering spores and pollen. Consider using a natural laundry detergent for a fresh scent instead, but make sure the detergent doesn?t contain ingredients that you are allergic to.

Now you ought to be fully prepared to begin using your knowledge to battle allergies. You shouldn?t have to deal with allergy problems anymore. Life may get a lot better for you after you make use of this article?s advice.

Market bomb attack kills 64 in Pakistan

    Musa Farman / EPA

Smoke billows from the scene of a bomb blast in Kirani road area of Quetta, the provincial capital of restive Balochistan province, Pakistan, 16 Febuary 2013.

    ?

    By Gul Yousufzai, Reuters

Sixty-four people including school children died on Saturday in a bomb attack carried out by extremists from Pakistan's Sunni Muslim majority, police said.

A spokesman for Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a Sunni group, claimed responsibility for the bomb in Quetta, which caused casualties in the town's main bazaar, a school and a computer center. Police said most of the victims were Shi'ites.

Burned school bags and books were strewn around.

"The explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device fitted to a motorcycle," said Wazir Khan Nasir, deputy inspector general of police in Quetta.

"This is a continuation of terrorism against Shi'ites."

"I saw many bodies of women and children," said an eyewitness at a hospital. "At least a dozen people were burned to death by the blast."

Most Western intelligence agencies have regarded the Pakistani Taliban and al Qaeda as the gravest threat to nuclear-armed Pakistan, a strategic U.S. ally.

But Pakistani law enforcement officials say Lashkar-e-Jhangvi has become a formidable force.

AFP PHOTO/Banaras KHANBANARAS KHAN/AFP/Getty Images

Last month the group said it carried out a bombing in Quetta that killed nearly 100 people, one of Pakistan's worst sectarian attacks. Thousands of Shi'ites protested in several cities after that attack.

Pakistani intelligence officials say extremist groups, led by Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, have escalated their bombings and shootings of Shi'ites to trigger violence that would pave the way for a Sunni theocracy in U.S.-allied Pakistan.

More than 400 Shi'ites were killed in Pakistan last year, many by hitmen or bombs, and the perpetrators are almost never caught. Some hardline Shi'ite groups have hit back by killing Sunni clerics.

The growing sectarian violence has hurt the credibility of the government, which has already faced criticism ahead of elections due in May for its inability to tackle corruption and economic stagnation.

The schism between Sunnis and Shi'ites developed after the Prophet Muhammad died in 632 when his followers could not agree on a successor.

Emotions over the issue are highly potent even today, pushing some countries, including Iraq five years ago, to the brink of civil war.

Pakistan is nowhere near that stage but officials worry that Sunni extremist groups have succeeded in dramatically ratcheting up tensions and provoking revenge attacks in their bid to destabilize the country.

Edison Seeking Energy Storage to Meet California Requirement

Edison International, the owner of California?s second-largest utility, will seek contracts for at least 50 megawatts of energy-storage capacity to ensure long- term energy supplies in the Los Angeles area.

The company?s Southern California Edison utility must procure the energy storage resources as part of a plan to supply as much as 1,800 megawatts of electrical capacity in the area, according to an e-mailed statement today from the San Francisco- based California Public Utilities Commission.

The requirement is the first of its kind for a utility in the state, according to Janice Lin, executive director of the California Energy Storage Alliance, an advocacy group.

?It?s a first. It?s pretty big in that regard,? Lin said today by telephone. ?A whole lot of different types of companies are eyeing this market, with particular great interest from traditional power plant and renewable energy developers.?

The requirement is separate from a 2010 law that requires regulators to set energy storage mandates for utilities in 2015 and 2020. Those mandates are expected to be finalized by October, Lin said.

Edison?s applications for the Los Angeles-area energy storage resources are expected to be submitted in late 2013 or early 2014, according to a commission filing. The amount of energy storage added may be more than 50 megawatts, because the commission also authorized the utility to procure as much as an additional 600 megawatts from energy efficiency, demand response, distributed generation or energy storage resources, according to the filing.
