BILLINGS, Mont. ? Homeowners and businesses in fifteen more Montana counties and the Fort Peck Reservation can apply for federal help to recover from severe storms and flooding that swept the state this spring.
Wednesday's announcement by the Department of Homeland Security means homeowners across most of the state are now eligible to recover costs for housing assistance, personal property replacement and moving and storage expenses.
Also, low-interest loans are available through the Small Business Administration, and the government may help pay for basic needs not covered by insurance.
Since late July, 31 Montana counties and four reservations have been deemed eligible for FEMA's Individual Assistance program.
Those affected by the disaster are asked to register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA.
